Note that some parts of your phone will probably look different from the screenshots we took here, which were taken on a Nexus 4 running Google’s default stock Android environment. Devices like the Samsung Galaxy S series have a variety of interface changes made by the phone’s manufacturer.

Afolayan breaks into Japan film festival

Award-winning actor and movie director, Kunle Afolayan, is making another groundbreaking entry into the Asian movie market as he takes his recent works, Figurine and Phone Swap, to Tokyo, Japan.

His foray into Tokyo is on the invitation of Cinema Africa, a non-profit organisation established in 2006 to develop understanding and appreciation of Africa in Japan through African films made by African filmmakers or producers.

The film festival billed to take place between May 18 and 23 would screen Phone Swap May 17 and  Figurine May 18 at the Auditorium Shibuya, Tokyo.

Also, there is an indication that the award winning filmmaker will be hosted to a dinner by the Nigerian High Commission in Tokyo on the day the festival opens.

In 2012, a teacher, Mrs. Njideka Imoka, reportedly flogged her pupil, Chidinma Ukachukwu, to death. The girl was a pupil of St. John of God Secondary School Awka, Anambra State. Her offence: She refused to do her assignment. In Osun State, Joshua Ajayi, a pupil of Geometry International Group of Schools was allegedly beaten to death by his teacher over a case of truancy. The killer teacher is still facing trial. In Port Harcourt, Rivers State a 13-year-old student of Shiloh Hills Remedial and Advanced College was allegedly flogged till he slumped and died by his principal, Mr. Chudi Nwoko.

Teacher arrested for fondling 14-year-old pupil

A 24-year-old teacher, Phillip Ebong, was arrested on Wednesday by the Gowon Estate Police Division, Akowonjo, Lagos, for allegedly victimising a 14-year-old pupil (name withheld) and banning her from attending his classes.

Ebong, who teaches Physics and Chemistry at the Dee Jewels International College, Gowon Estate, Egbeda, was arrested during school hours after a complaint was lodged at the police station by Spaces for Change, a non-governmental organisation on youth development, on behalf of the pupil and her guardian, Mrs. Theresa Amaechi.

A copy of the petition made available to Gossipersonline.com revealed that Ebong began harassing the victim from the first day of her enrolment in the school in January 2013.
